Peter holding a lingcod

An 18 pound lingcod, taken at San Miguel Island on a metal jig aboard the Condor, which was running from Santa Barbara in the early 1990’s.

Most lingcod are brown and white, like the ones above and below, but a few have this strange turquoise color to them. This one was caught on the Condor at San Miguel Island.

While most lings are taken at offshore banks or remote islands, you can still pull an occasional nice one locally off a half-day boat. I got this 15 pounder off the Aquarius from Malibu Pier in 1994.
